Trinity and The Royal London Foundation offer support to an East Midlands based Charity

Trinity Fire & Security Systems and The Royal London Foundation are proud to have worked together to provide much needed support to an East Midlands based Charity, Home-Start.

Home-Start, who are based in Newark on Trent, helps local families with young children dealing with whatever life throws at them. Home-Start supports the parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. The ongoing benefits of the support offered by Home-Start include improved health and well-being and stronger family relationships.

Home-Start's team of volunteers visit the family’s home every week and tailor their support to the individual needs of the parents and children. The Volunteers are very committed and will usually continue their visits for at least a year, or until the parents feel they can stand on their own two feet. Through the ongoing visits the parents and volunteers often develop a deeply trusting relationship which can ultimately lead to powerful changes within the family’s day to day lives. In addition Home-Start also run family groups and social events to support the families.

Trinity’s Business Development Manager, Neill Shirley, commented:

“I have been really proud to have worked with the Home-Start team in Newark on a variety of fund raising events in recent years. The events, ranging from Quiz nights, Christmas Markets stalls right through to Newark’s Mayor actually completing a Jail Break! offer much needed funding to the charity and allows them to continue the invaluable support they provide to the local families they work with.

When I joined Trinity’s pension scheme I had the opportunity to nominate Home-Start for a Royal London Foundation grant. Whilst I was slightly sceptical that my nomination would disappear into the ‘ether’ of such a large company I couldn’t have been more wrong. The whole process from nominating Home-Start to them gaining the £5,000 award was extremely positive and I am very grateful to The Royal London Foundation for the award, it will certainly help the Home-Start team to continue the great work they do in and around Newark”

Elaine Rossall MBE, Home-Starts Senior Organiser, highlighted:

"The £5,000 we have received from the Royal London Foundation will help us to continue to support families within the Newark area. The money will go towards supporting local families with young children through home visiting support.

Home-Start aims to give support to families who may be struggling to cope with a variety of challenges, including post-natal illness, disability, isolation, the demands of parenting young children, bereavement, multiply births and helping families to change behavioural problems; improving relationships within the family and more.

Our volunteers are parents themselves and bring to a family their personal experience and considerable knowledge.

We cannot thank Neill, Trinity Fire & Security and Royal London enough for choosing to support Home-Start Newark."
