Project Overview

The Plymouth Life Centre is a leisure centre located in Central Park, Plymouth. Its facilities include a family leisure pool, a climbing wall, an eight-lane indoor bowls centre, a 12 court multipurpose sports hall, a 10 lane 50-meter Olympic standard swimming pool and an Olympic standard diving pool. The aquatic facilities are the largest facility in southern England and were used by several teams training for the 2012 Olympics. The Life Centre was constructed to replace the Mayflower Centre and Central Park Leisure Pools at a cost circa £47M.

Trinity Experience

The ‘fast-track’ 6 month project required complex daily work planning and careful consideration in the design process for a future, and now on-going, maintenance programme. Bespoke induction loops were designed and installed for the pool and hall viewing areas and the dance room stacking and retractable seating, along with tailored VESDA systems for the considerable and multiple high level areas. ‘Intelligent balancing’ of the PA speakers was one of the specialist requirements implemented to overcome all the complex design and installation challenges.
